What Celebrities Lost Their Homes in LA Fires?

On January 7th, 2025, a series of wildfires began moving quickly across Southern California, displacing over 80,000 people, many of whom had been living in their homes for decades. Large parts of the Los Angeles area were engulfed in the flames. Additionally, total insured losses have been estimated at more than $30 billion, far exceeding the previous record of $12 billion. While firefighters are still working on containing the flames, the total number of fatalities and injuries is unknown.

Numerous Californians are grieving the loss of their homes and their loved ones. In the midst of this tragedy, the pain experienced by others, including well-known figures like celebrities, serves as a poignant reminder of our shared humanity in times of hardship.

If you have lost a home in the LA wildfires, you are not alone. Here is a list of celebrities who have lost their homes as well:

Anthony Hopkins

The legendary actor, who just turned 87, lost his Pacific Palisades home. This is the second time Hopkins has lost a home; he previously lost his home in London to a fire in 2000. Hopkins wrote on Instagram: “As we all struggle to heal from the devastation of these fires, it’s important we remember that the only thing we take with us is the love we give.”

Paris Hilton

The reality TV star posted an Instagram video showing the remains of her $8.4 million Malibu home. She, her husband, Carter Reum, and their two children watched live footage of their home and others burning.

Miles Teller

Miles Teller, the “Top Gun: Maverick” star and his wife, Keleigh Sperry, lost the $7.5 million Pacific Palisades home that they purchased in 2023. Keleigh expressed her gratitude on Instagram for the sympathy others had been extending to her and posted pictures of the flattened houses in their neighborhood.

Mel Gibson

Known for movies like “Braveheart” and “Hacksaw Ridge,” actor and director Mel Gibson confirmed that his home had burned to the ground while he was filming in Houston. Thankfully, everyone who was at his home was evacuated safely.

Barbara Corcoran

Barbara Corcoran, the “Shark Tank” star and real estate investor, revealed on Instagram that she lost her mobile home in the Tahitian Terrace community in Malibu. She wrote, “The place where memories were made, friendships were built, and lives were shared has been tragically destroyed. Most of my neighbors — many elderly — lost everything.”

Eugene Levy

The “Schitt’s Creek” star lost his L.A. home to a fire. Levy told the L.A. Times, “The smoke looked pretty black and intense over Temescal Canyon. I couldn’t see any flames, but the smoke was very dark.”

Julia Louis-Dreyfus

The “Seinfeld” actress and her husband, Brad Hall, lost their $15 million Pacific Palisades home. Louis-Dreyfus and Hall raised their sons, Henry and Charlie, there. Surprisingly, the house next door and a few houses across the street from theirs are still standing.

What You Should Do If You’ve Been Negatively Affected by the LA Wildfires

In the wake of the LA wildfires, you may be dealing with property damage and catastrophic injuries. Depending on your insurance policy or whether someone intentionally or negligently damaged your home, you may be able to file a claim to recover compensation for your losses. You should also consider scheduling a free consultation with a personal injury attorney, as they can help you navigate the claims process and give you guidance as to how to recover the full extent of your damages for medical bills, lost wages, diminished quality of life, out-of-pocket expenses, and more.
