David J. Muñoz

David J. Muñoz is a San Diego personal injury lawyer and the Managing Partner of Mission Personal Injury Lawyers, with offices in San Diego, Chula Vista, and El Paso, Texas. Co-founding the firm in 2010, he has spent his career doing one thing: taking cases to trial and winning. A Family Legacy of Advocacy

David’s path to law was direct. Growing up watching his father — Rosalio Muñoz, a personal injury attorney who later became a judge in Texas — fight for injured victims shaped everything that followed.

He pursued pre-medicine through graduate school, earning a B.A. in Biology from St. Mary’s University (2002) and an M.S. in Biology from the University of Texas at San Antonio (2004), before earning his J.D. from St. Mary’s University School of Law in 2008.

That scientific foundation directly informs how he evaluates and presents cases involving traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord damage, and soft-tissue conditions that insurance adjusters routinely try to minimize.

After law school, David relocated to San Diego in 2009 and began his legal career at Fish & Richardson before co-founding Mission with his father in 2010.

Building a practice from scratch in a city where he had no existing connections, he grew the firm through trial results and reputation alone — a story he shared in a 2020 feature interview with San Diego Voyager. 

Trial Credentials

David is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) — an invitation-only organization requiring a minimum number of civil jury trials to conclusion — and currently serves on the leadership board of the San Diego chapter. He is also a graduate of the prestigious Trial Lawyers College. He has been admitted to practice before all California state courts since 2010 and is also licensed in Texas.
